Help for the Broken Hearted
Tonight, I read Psalm 61. After wards I was meditating on verse 2:
"From the end of the earth will I cry unto thee, when my heart is overwhelmed: lead me to the rock that is higher than I." (KJV)
I began to think about how many people in this world are hurting, and all the things they have to go through. I began to remember all the things I've gone through. For such a young person, I've had considerable loss. I know what it's like to lose a loved ones, to lose friends (either through them leaving me or death), to move and leave people you love. In life we have a lot of pain.
There is also pains that I haven't experienced. I've never lost a child, or a spouse, etc.
But I don't have to experience every of the above mentioned heart aches to sympathize with pain and loss, because I myself have felt such pain that it seemed my heart was actually breaking.
At times like these, I think it is easy for someone to question IF God actually cares.
Let me tell you something: God created us. He knows every feeling, every thought and every pain we are dealing with. He didn't create us and leave us to live this life alone. If you are saved then God will NEVER leave you and He cares about every single aspect of your life! He can sympathize with our pain simply because He created us and He knows what we are going through.
Yes, life can be hard. We can lose someone/something we thought we never would. But no matter who/what we lose there is someone who will never leave us nor forsake us. His name is JESUS.
I may experience pain, but it's nothing that my Savior didn't suffer through. I may lose things, but it's nothing compared to what Jesus gave to me. Jesus died on the cross to make the gift of Eternal life available to me. That gift is worth more than any material thing I can ever lose in this world.
When your heart is broken and you feel overwhelmed remember this promise:
Psalm 34: 18: The Lord is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit. (KJV)
