The Love of God

"The Love of God" is  a song that I have come to love. An older gentleman, who attends my church, sings it now and then and each time he tells the story behind it. First of all let me put the lyrics to the song on here (to save time I will just put my favorite verse of the song and chorus):

"Could we with ink the ocean fill
And were the skies of parchment made
Were every stalk on earth a quill
And every man a scribe by trade
To write the love of God above
Would drain the ocean dry
Nor could the scroll contain the whole
Though stretched from sky to sky..

The love of God is greater far
Than tongue or pen can ever tell
It goes beyond the highest star
And reaches to the lowest hell
The guilty pair, bowed down with care
God gave His Son to win
His erring child He reconciled
And pardoned from his sin."

The Love of God is something that I have thought of a lot over the past couple of years. To be honest, I have went through a lot of spiritually trying times, the extent to which some may not even know about. I don't know what I would have done these past few years without the ever present knowledge that God loves me.

I am also thankful for the scriptures that teach that God loves everyone, no exceptions. God doesn't look at me and love me and look at , my sister (for example) and hate her, no He loves everyone.
Maybe you've lived a life that you regret and you think that you have done things which makes you incapable of being loved by God, that is completely untrue. There is nothing you can do to keep God from loving you!

If this subject is something you struggle with, let me give you some verses from the Bible. One of the ways God expressed His love for us was dying for our sin. He makes it possible for all men to be saved, you only have to accept the gift of salvation.

John 3:16 (KJV)
"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life."

Titus 2:11 (KJV)
"For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men..."

John 1:7 (KJV)
"The same came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all men through him might believe."

John 12:32 (KJV)
"And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me."

(THE WORLD and ALL MEN includes everyone who has even been born and lived on the face of the earth. If God had meant only he only loved some of us He would have said that. He loves you!)

Luke 12:6-7: "Are not five sparrows sold for two farthings, and not one of them is forgotten before God?
But even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not therefore: ye are of more value than many sparrows."

God keeps track of all the sparrows, yet we are more important to Him than they are. He loves them all, and He certainly loves us all enough to give us all the chance to be saved.

Ephesians 3:17-19: "That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love,
May be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height;
And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God."

The great thing is that God loves me and He always will, and I have never done anything, nor will I ever, be able to do anything bad enough to make Him stop. 1000 times I have failed, yet His mercy and love remains!

God's love is immeasurable and I hope you will accept it, rely on it, believe it, and accept it.
