Friendship and Forgiveness

I've thought a lot recently about friends. If you've ever had a best friend you know just how special they are. But, there is one thing you can be sure of: not all friends are forever. This is something you'll learn all the time. Someone you expect to be your friend forever will leave your life, sometimes with no explanation at all. You may become angry at them and unresolved anger easily turns to bitterness. There is something I want you to remember: God is in control of your life! He brings people into your life and He ushers them out. He knows what is best for you! Remember that everything that happens to you is for a reason and it is for your good; even if it doesn't seem that way at the time.

I wrote a poem about this very thing last year sometime I believe. (If you ever get sick of my poetry, just let me know! haha) But, for now, here it is. :)

Inspired by: A quote and an old friend.

I was asked the other day if I knew you,
A smile flashed on my face bright and new,
A thousand memories danced in my head,
A hundred things you had said,
All the adventures we had,
The memory made me instantly sad,
Best friends forever we used to say,
But we chose our paths, they went separate ways,
You went your way I went mine,
How could you change so much in so little time?
I liked the person you used to be,
You're not the same anymore to me,
I stopped thinking of what we used to do,
And simply replied "I used to."

So you see, I've experienced the pain of losing a friend before, more than once. Peace will come in your life when you learn to let go and let God! And remember, if you are a Christian, no matter how alone you feel, God always there! He's just a prayer away! :) Learn to forgive, forget and let go.

  1. Wow. Like, I don't even know how to comment or what to say. You have no idea how that poem hit me. It's the exact words I was looking for to describe a past relationship with a "best friend". I don't know where you got your talent, but you must have stolen it from at least 5 other poets. Thank you SO much for this post. "But we chose our paths, they went separate ways." I declare, you are amazing!
